- A Resource About Parkinson's Awareness Month
-
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Once considered a disease only of the aged, increasing numbers of
- patients in their 30's, 40's and 50's are being diagnosed as having
- Parkinson's Disease. In fact over 1.5 million Americans are reported to have
- this disease. It is named after Dr. James Parkinson an English physician of
- the early nineteenth century and was once known as paralysis agitans or
- shaking palsy. April is National Parkinson's Awareness month and the National
- Parkinson Foundation has asked me to help "get the word out". And I am trying
- to do just that. Since the Foundation is trying to find the cause and cure
- for Parkinson's Disease, provide diagnostic and therapeutic services and
- improve quality of life for both patient and caregiver, I am happy to lend a
- hand. You may obtain more information, publications and a newsletter either
- by writing to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue,
- Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136 or by calling their toll free number
- 1-800-327-4545 (in Florida call 1-800-433-7022) You don't need an envelope for
- this offer. Just ask for the material they promised Dr. Bruckheim they would
- send you.
